Nursery Rhyme Week

Nursery Rhyme Week
We all know the importance of nursery rhymes for early years development: those familiar characters, new vocabulary, early numeracy skills, excitement and engagement together with actions and rhymes...
Our babies have joined in the 'Rhyme a Day' challenge, with our practitioners offering invitations to play focusing on some of our favourite rhymes, but being lead in all sorts of other directions following the childrens' interests. Our babies love Old McDonald, and it did turn into a wonderful sensory mud play, which is absolutely fine ("it's all washable" is one of our favourite mantras!).
Nursery rhymes are such a fundamental part of development: children often learn these by heart, and that boosts confidence and nurtures a love for reading, rhyme, and rhythm - all life skills!
Do you have a favourite rhyme you remember from your childhood?
Here are some of our invitations from this week...
